About Kubixel
Kubixel is a Rubik's cube website that runs in your browser with nothing to install: a 3D cube from 3x3 to 7x7 to swap pieces and get the exact algorithm, solve your own cube, make patterns, draw on the faces and learn to solve it from scratch.
Why it exists
Many cube sites give you loose algorithms or twenty-move solutions without explaining anything. Kubixel was made for the opposite: to let you see on a 3D cube what every move does, understand why an algorithm works and repeat it with your cube in hand.
What you can do
- Swap: pick two or more pieces on any cube (3x3 to 7x7) and get the algorithm that moves them, explained step by step.
- Solve: paint your cube's colors or scan it with your camera and get the shortest solution or the beginner method one, linked to each lesson.
- Patterns: checkerboard, cube in a cube, superflip and many more, with the algorithm and how they form.
- Academy: short lessons from your first solve to full CFOP, with guided practice on the 3D cube.
- OLL and PLL algorithms: all 57 and 21 cases with their diagram and each one on the 3D cube.
- Timer: random scrambles, 15-second inspection and your averages.
How it's built
Everything is computed in your own browser: the solver (Kociemba's two-phase algorithm), the color scanner, the piece-swap algorithm generator and the 3D cube. That's why it's fast and sends nothing to any server. The academy algorithms, the libraries and the patterns are checked by simulation before they're published, so none of them is written wrong.
What's free
The tools, the Apprentice level of the academy, the algorithm libraries and the patterns are free. To keep the project going, the advanced academy levels (Speedcuber and Master) have a one-time payment and some pages may show discreet ads; people who buy the academy see no ads.
Your privacy
You don't need an account to use Kubixel. Signing in with Google is only to keep your Kubixels and progress on any device. It's all explained in privacy.
