Lookahead, inspection and color neutrality

Goal: Solves without pauses, from start to finish.

Hold your cube like the one on screen (yellow on top) and repeat the moves of each case.

Use the cube on the page: watch the cases, then practice. Turn layers by dragging a piece or with the keyboard (U D R L F B and M, Shift = prime). Rw is R + M'.

From here on, what saves the most time is not learning algorithms but never stopping. The best in the world turn at about 10-12 moves per second, but above all they don't hesitate.

Lookahead

  1. While doing an F2L pair, look at where the pieces of the next one are, not at the ones you are moving.
  2. Train slow solves at a steady pace: if you stop, go even slower.
  3. Learn to do the algorithms without looking: that frees your eyes for the next step.

Inspection

During the 15 seconds of inspection, plan the whole cross and locate the pieces of the first pair. If you can, do an X-cross (cross + first pair together).

Color neutrality

The fastest speedcubers don't always start with the white cross: they pick the color with the shortest cross. Start by being "dual" (white and yellow) and expand little by little.

Measure your progress with the timer: watch your average of 12 (ao12), which is the one that really shows your level.

Got it?When you can do it on your cube, mark it to track your progress.

Practice on the cube: when you succeed, the lesson will be marked as done.
