The white cross
Goal: A white cross at the bottom, with each edge matching its side.
Hold your cube like the one on screen (yellow on top) and repeat the moves of each case.
Use the cube on the page: watch the cases, then practice. Turn layers by dragging a piece or with the keyboard (U D R L F B, Shift = prime).
The first goal is a white cross on the bottom face, with each edge matching the center of its side. This step is intuitive: there is nothing to memorize, just a few cases to understand.
Hold the cube with yellow on top: the cross is built at the bottom, on the white face. Rotate the cube to look at it whenever you want.
Place the edges one by one
Pick a white edge, for example white-blue, and bring the blue face to the front. Depending on where the edge is:
Repeat with the other three white edges, each time with its color in front. Be careful not to break the ones you already have: if you move a bottom face to place another one, put it back.
Finding it hard? Try the daisy: first bring the four white edges up around the yellow center (white facing up), then bring each one down with a half turn (F2, R2…) when its other color matches the center of that side.
Practice on the cube: when you succeed, the lesson will be marked as done.
